The Tahiti Football League offers up four points for a win, two for a draw, and one for a defeat as opposed to the traditional 3-1-0 system. Simply because they don't want nobody to be sad.

Even without the emotional part, it's better in that it awards a point for playing vs. just staying home. So the more you play the more points you get regardless of the outcome.

People need to lose and feel bad about it. That's what motivates them to not lose next time, but that isn't the goal of this system if I'm reading it right. This system still has winners and losers, but it's good in the sense in penalizes those who just didn't participate. Really it went from 3-1-0 to 4-2-1-0. More like online game rankings.
